When I created my Fire Noodle Tteokbokki video, I approached it like an instructional design project. My goal was to teach viewers the recipe while also introducing the cultural context of Korean street food in an engaging way.
I chunked the content into clear segments: ingredient overview, preparation tips, cooking steps, and serving suggestions. This reduced cognitive load and made the process easy to follow. I used multimodal elements: close-up visuals, real-time demonstrations, and verbal explanations, so learners could see, hear, and read instructions.
By modeling each step, I showed exactly what to look for, such as sauce texture or broth readiness. I also built in scaffolding, offering spice adjustments and optional toppings to support both beginners and creative cooks.
Throughout, I kept the tone friendly and ended with a taste-test moment to reinforce the reward of learning. The result was more than a recipe. it was a culturally rich, learner-friendly cooking experience.
